Types of Classes:
Mysore
Open to students of all levels. New and beginning students are always welcome. Mysore-style practice is the traditional teaching method of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, South India. Students are taught the sequence of postures of Ashtanga yoga in an individualized format. Each student will move at his or her own pace with the guidance of the instructor. The room is open for two hours and students may walk in at any time during the session to begin their practice (remember to leave enough time for at least 45 minutes of practice).
*Instructor will be on hand until 8:45am
Open Studio
Students have the opportunity to do their own practice in a group setting without the guidance of a teacher.
Led Ashtanga
In this class, students will flow through half of the Primary Series -- the sun salutations, standing sequence and many of the seated postures that make up the Series. Postures from the 2nd Series may also be introduced in the latter part of this class.
Primary Series
This class presents the full Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series - a challenging yet highly meditative series of 72 postures linked together in a flowing manner. Dynamic and fluid, the true focus of this practice is the breath. The session is taught in the traditional format with both the asana names and the vinyasa counted in Sanskrit. Some experience in yoga practice is recommended for this class, particularly an understanding and practice of Surya Namaskara A and B, but all levels are welcome.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow, passive practice that stimulates the connective tissues rather than the muscles fostering a deep opening in the body. Taught as an embodied meditation practice, Yin Yoga is an excellent compliment to an active yoga practice or lifestyle. All levels welcome.
*Optional meditation from 5:45-6pm.
